Data privacy: Your rights — our obligations

You can be sure that we protect and safeguard your personal data: The protection of your privacy when processing personal data is an important priority for Evonik Operations GmbH, and we bear it in mind in all our business processes.

We would therefore like to take this opportunity to explain to you the basic rules regarding the handling of personal data. You will also find this information and, where applicable, further information on the collection, processing and use of personal data wherever we request such information from you.

 

The scope of personal data processing

As a matter of principle, we collect and use your personal data only to the extent necessary to provide a functioning website as well as our content and services. Your personal data are only collected and used with the user’s consent. An exception applies in cases where obtaining prior consent is not possible for practical reasons and the processing of the data is permitted by law.

 

Legal basis for personal data processing

In as far as we seek the consent of the data subject for the processing of personal data, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) serves as a legal basis for the processing of personal data.

In the processing of personal data that are required to fulfill a contract whose contracting party is the data subject, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b of the GDPR serves as a legal basis. This also applies to processing required to implement pre-contractual measures.

In as far as the processing of personal data is required to comply with a legal obligation our company is subject to, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR serves as a legal basis.

In the event that vital interests of the data subject or another natural person require the processing of personal data, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. d GDPR serves as a legal basis.

If the processing of personal data is required to protect a legitimate interest of our company or a third party and if the interests, basic rights and fundamental freedoms of the data subject do not outweigh the first-mentioned interest, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR serves as a legal basis for the data processing.

 

Information we collect

You can use the SAMANA® website without providing us with any personal data. When you use the SAMANA® website, technical access data is automatically recorded and evaluated by internet servers (web servers). However, this data cannot be assigned to a specific person; the individual user remains anonymous.

 

Collecting technical access data

The technical access data includes, for example, the name of your internet service provider, the IP address, information about the internet browser and operating system used, the domain name of the website from which a visit to our website is made, the average time spent on our website and the pages visited on our website. This data is transmitted to our web servers when you access individual web pages via your internet browser. The legal basis for the temporary storage of the data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The temporary storage of the IP address etc. by the system is necessary to enable the website to be delivered to the user's computer. For this to happen, the IP address etc. of the user must remain stored for the duration of the session.

We would like to point out that on this website Google Analytics has been extended by the code "gat._anonymizeIp();" to ensure IP addresses are collected anonymously (so-called IP masking).

We also use Website Custom Audiences pixel-based retargeting of Facebook Inc., 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”).

Using the pixel, a non-reversible and non-personal checksum (hash value) is generated from your usage data, which can be transmitted to Facebook for marketing and analysis purposes. Our website does not use social plugins of social networks. When we integrate the icons of social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, we only refer to these networks in the form of an external link. Evonik Operations GmbH operates a so-called fan page on the social network Facebook of Facebook Ireland Limited. This fan page uses Facebook’s Page Insights feature. Evonik Operations GmbH and Facebook Ireland Limited are jointly responsible for this data within the meaning of Art. 26 GDPR.
